Do you see this symbol on your tires?
In an effort to help reduce auto insurance rates, effective January 1, 2016, all Ontario insurers must provide a winter tire discount to their policyholders. What is the definition of a winter tire? As long as your tire shows the “snowflake” on the side wall of the tire it is deemed a winter tire and you would qualify for the discount.
During the harsh winter months, winter tires significantly enhance safety and reduce the likelihood of collisions by improving traction, braking and handling in frost, snow, slush and under cold and icy conditions. Winter tires that are in good condition can shorten braking distances by as much as 25%, which can make all the difference in the slippery conditions that we commonly see.
If you see the snowflake symbol on your car, or have any questions about the winter tire discount, give your broker a call or contact us.
